"The Artie Shaw Orchestra" On the eve of the American entry into WWII, Time magazine reported that to the German masses, the United States meant "skyscrapers, Clark Gable, and Artie Shaw." More than seventy years later, his big band remains one of the swingingest outfits around, still remaining true to his classics like Stardust and Indian Love Call.
